Regrowing Hair With The Help Of Propecia
Tagged: hair growth, hair loss, hair loss prevention, hair loss product, hair loss treatment, propeciaThis week, I thought I’ll write about Propecia, a prescription drug used to treat hair loss experienced by men. If you’ve no patience to read and just want to know if Propecia works, watch the video (below).
What is Propecia?
Propecia is the tradename for finasteride, a drug used for treating male-pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head). It is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is only available by prescription.
Who takes Propecia?
Propecia is only taken by men and should never be taken by women or children. Propecia is not safe for women of childbearing age and it just doesn’t work for older women.
Before taking Propecia, you should inform your doctor if you have:
- liver disease, or abnormal liver enzyme tests
- prostate cancer
- a bladder muscle disorder
- stricture of your urethra
- if you are unable to urinate
How long will it take for me to see improvements?
Propecia is commonly taken orally once a day and is proven to retain hair, sometimes even making it thicker. Typically, one should take Propecia daily for 3 months before results can be seen. This video shows the improvements after using Propecia.
Are there any side effects?
Some of the recognised side effects from taking Propecia include:
- less desire for sex
- erectile dysfunction
- a decrease in the amount of semen
- allergic reactions (rash, hives, swelling)
- breast tenderness and enlargement
However, side effects are rare and uncommon. Always speak to your doctor about the possible side effects first before purchase.
Propecia can also be absorbed through the skin, so women and children should not be permitted to handle Propecia tablets. It can cause birth defects if a woman is exposed to it during pregnancy.
How much will it cost me?
A year’s supply of Propecia pills will cost you about AUD$1,000.
